GIMP- Replace Photoshop now

GIMP - Opensource 2D image editor comparable to the best commercial counterparts. Gimp have almost all the functionality of PhotoShop and Corel Photopaint. Gimp comes preloaded with tons of tileable textures-making capabilities making it ideal for making maps. A must have!! However, unlike PhotoShop and Corel PhotoPaint, it does not have CMYK capabilities, making it unsuitable for final output to print.
However, for general editing and producing graphics for the web, it is excellent. The compression quality for JPEG that comes with GIMP, in my opinion, is superior to Photoshop's. GIMP can produce good quality images with small file sizes.
The following site is build using GIMP graphics

GIMP is a great resource, I just hope that (as an open source project) it doesn't stagnate, as so many do. It hasn't had any updates for some time now. Nvu is another great web design resource that hasn't moved forward.
Hi John,
Thanks for the info. I have been using NVU as well. It is good but is also quite buggy.
I was hoping that their is a Dreamweaver equivalent... NVU seems to be the closest... but is still not there yet.
